A Better Name for Plug-ins?

In a former life, I was in advertising and PR. In the office, we spent many hours on product naming.

Last night, while playing with some of my favorite plug-ins, I was thinking about the importance of a product's name. I realized that plug-in is a boring name for a very, very exciting, creative and artistic product.

Sure, some plug-ins help us correct our mistakes, rescue detail and offer standing adjustments. Most plug-ins, however, help us awaken the artist within - very quickly and very easily.

So my friends, let's try to come up with a more creative name for plug-ins. Post your suggestions here.

P.S. I know snapseed is not technically a plug-in, but like most plug-ins, it offers many creative and artistic effects.

I think of them as "amplifiers."

I think plug-in is good and correct, yet incomplete. In this case I would call them "plug-in enhancements." If the name should be shortened, then just "enhancements."

What about booster?

App Xpanders!

I do agree though that "Plug-In" feels too boring and bland for what they represent.

I think awakenings as you are awakening the picture to a true work of art.

I would call them Creative Filters or Creative Modifiers. Be careful, they can become addictive.

Creativity extenders or just Enhancers

Hi Rick,

Dig your HDR shots.

I think since all plug-ins are essentially a filter, why don't we just call them filters.

I like the world amplifiers or amp for short. Photo-amps would sound good. The word enhancements sounds has got a ring to it, just reminds me of an athlete taking steroids :S.

Would appreciate if y'all could do me a quick favour and check out my photography blog - www.photoflowgallery.blogspot.com. Thanks!
